Anonymous paraglider off Whidbey Island – fear of vlogging is about same level as fear of paragliding but a part of me thinks I could do both with the right equipment.

Linked Channels I Enjoy

Countless knitters share their work online. Just like any niche interest or craft, you can find folks sharing their skill on YouTube. My list above is only a few of the many podcast creators I enjoy – why on Earth do knitters still call vlogs podcasts? A mystery of the universe.

What I love about this is a sense of global camaraderie it provides just to know there are people in many cultures across a wide range of ages thriving on something that is a joy to you. When things may be challenging or difficult in your world, being able to tune into another’s world for a bit to knit and listen is a gift.

As a former English major who loved to read voraciously at one time in life, this video/audio form of mental transport and escape has currently replaced books for me.

I am seriously impressed with people’s video editing skills and putting together scheduled content. This is the main reason that despite every fiber in my being wanting to start my own YT knitting vlog, I have not.

Notes to Future Me Who Has Overcome Fear of Vlogging

  • Start small and brief
  • Focus on one topic each video
  • Host a Knit-a-Long
  • Incorporate 2-minute segments of my gazillion nature photographs
  • Pick something in knitwear design to learn each time and share it – teaching is best way to learn something new
  • Get a good light for indoors, a good tripod for outdoors, and a good mic always
  • Feature knitting outdoors monthly in different locations local to me

A great scrap project waiting in line to be completed
